Assuming such a thing exists, how do you recognise people you knew when you were living? I could only recognise my grandmother as a seventy-year old woman. Her great-grandmother could only recognise her as a three-year old child. So how would we both know who she was?

Assuming such a thing exists (?), they're sure to have perfected some form of identifying each other. Maybe we'll all have names or something.....? I can't imagine it being a eternity of "know the fact, just can't pick the nose" situations.

Its a very good question. Also, what would happen, assuming we all do recognise eachother, in situations where spouses who have lost their partners early on and then remarry (sometimes even the dead partner's best mate)? If they all recognise eachother in the afterlife, would they all still be friends? Or would the wife now have to chose between her former love or the last? And if so, would the rejected one have to spend eternity in rejection? Maybe that would be hell. Chilling thoughts indeed!

if u are really interested read "journey of souls" it explains most things, basically, after you die, you are no longer in a body form, but an orb, you dont speak, you communicate telepathically. Read the book, explains it much better than me x
