It seems everyone lived happily ever after apart from poor old Mrs. Bast. Couldn't Henry at least have let her have the Granny Annexe?

I have enjoyed this series, although the first episode was a little pedestrian.
I normally love bbc adaptations, but I couldn't connect with any of the characters, so was disappointed. Maybe the book is better
I've been glued to it, I found it fascinating.
What an absolute yawn that was: characters it was impossible to care about, wittering on interminably and reading out endless letters, all drowned out with overwrought music. Only interesting aspect was the impressive locations. About 3 hours too long. Actually, make that four.
A lot of criticism lay lay at the door of the author and book. Its even more heavy going in book form.
The film was better :)
have recorded episode 4, but i also couldn't connect with any of the characters, they all seemed rather off and odd.
I'm wondering if I dozed in the middle of the last episode, the last 20 minutes really didn't make much sense to me. In fact was dissapointed with it all
so was i disappointed, the characters were mostly unlikeable, one dimensional people. Its a shame as i enjoyed the film a bit more.
You're a bunch of philistines, it was great, just needed a bit of concentration ;)
i can concentrate, i just finished one book which you had to have endless reams of the stuff, but i too found it pedestrian and no one was immediately likeable.
Was I the only one who thought that Tibby could have done with a good slap ?
I loved everything about it, the sets, the clothes, the dialogue, the characters. The story line was neither here nor there although I enjoyed that too.
How old was Tibby supposed to be Mikey, he looked about twelve but was drinking and smoking?
It was very different and a bit off the wall but I think that's why I enjoyed it so much.
I think Tibby was about 15/16 in the first episode.

The difficulty with this is the book itself....definitely odd with an even odder set of characters.

Also, we should not forget the mores of the age....this was an Edwardian novel, written by a Victorian man. People probably did act and speak like that.
tibby and the rest of the cast you mean.. Even Margaret was stilted.
Margaret's dialogue was amazing, I think we must have been watching different programmes emmie ;)
I kept with it hoping it would improve but it didn't; the ending was a huge anticlimax. It is so strange how we have interpreted it differently isn't it. All I could think when street scenes were played was 'I wonder how much has this all cost' and 'How have they obliterated the yellow lines on the roads'!!!!
i think it was you either liked it or didn't, i didn't but that's not to say i think it was badly done, but i couldn't see the point of it. After all what happened to Mrs Bast, we didn't find out.
Emmie....as I said before, that was Forster's fault, not the BBC. It is in many way, a unsatisfactory novel.
