Anyone here with knowledge of these systems? I know they are not everyone's cup of tea, but I like them.
Anyway, a few weeks ago ours developed a fault - it wouldn't shut down and was baking us almost to death. The only way to stop it was to use the main on/off control. We had a man to look at it - he diagnosed a fault with the circuit board which meant that the heater unit was not responding to the thermostat. The circuit board was replaced and we are now heated to an acceptable degree.
I have now noticed a strange thing. If you turn the thermostat to minimum the unit should (according to the user manual) stop functioning completely and the main gas burner should not ignite. But it does, every 10 minutes or so, and the fan runs for a bit at low speed. It's not a problem for us as users because we obviously have it set above absolute minimum during the day, and it's timed to go off at night. This did not happen before the fault and the thermostat was confirmed as not faulty during the repair. Any ideas? It doesn't seem to be dangerous (the repairman certified its safe operation) so I thought I'd just mention it when we have the next annual service.
We had one of these systems in our old bungalow and it was very effective and would warm up the rooms in just 15 minutes. Never had any problems with it as we had it serviced every 12 months.
