What you should drink is loads of water to flush the uric acid out of your system, and remove the crystals that re giving you the constant pain.

What you should not eat or drink is what ever is causing the gout - this may be spicy food, bacon, sausages, cheese - you need to examine your diet and work out what gives you the acid, and then either cut it down, or out.
You should avoid foods which contain Purines.
Meat, offal, chicken, beef, pork, tea, coffee, chocolate, cocoa, cola drinks, sardines, anchovies, whitebait, sprats, herrings, mackerel, mussels, scallops, and all fish roe.

Or you could do what I do - take one 100mg pill of Allopurinol a day (or whatever your doc says) and then eat whatever you like!
Works for me and has done for eight years, it doesn't seem to get worse just because I eat all the wrong things. Take the pills and enjoy yourself !!

Poor you. Anybody who has ever suffered it will sympathise.
Avoid any foods which have preservatives such as salami, bacon, sausages, spicey foods any any of the blue cheeses. Flush your system out with plenty of water.
Have you been taking medication for high blood pressure for any length of time? My husband was taking Bendroflurozide (? spelling) and one of the indications on the leaflet after prolonged use is that it can trigger attacks of gout. If this is your situation, see your GP as it's time for a change in medication.
