Has Anyone Flown With Easy Jet Recently?

I've just booked to go to Malta with Easy Jet in March. However, I was told that I am only allowed one piece of hand luggage that must go in the cabin. If I want take a suitcase, it will be an extra £60. This must be fairly new for Easy Jet as it didn't happen last time. I took a suitcase and a shoulder bag last March. Suitcase in the hold; shoulder bag in the cabin. It's not that much of a problem except I will be taking my suit with me. Hardly conducive to carrying in a holdall. I'll have to see what small cases are suitable. Is this a recent change by Easy Jet? TIA.

I have been flying with Easyjet for years and they have always charged for hold luggage, but it has never been that expensive, It is a lot dearer if you don't prepay and do it at the airport. They allow 1 bag in the plane, but if the flight is busy they may take it from you at the gate and put it in the hold for free.

I fly with them quite often, but never take checked-in bags.

I put my suit in hand baggage - a standard-sized 2-wheel carry-on, but at the maximum dimensions.

I usually pay for extra-legroom seats (being over 6ft tall), but they have never checked the size or weight of my bag. I think so long as it fits in the overhead bays it is OK.

I checked with a couple of upcoming Easyjet flights for the price of a checked-in bag. One was GBP46 per bag up to 23 kg; another was £35 per bag, so it looks like you are toward the top end of the price scale.

For GBP60 price of a checkd-in bag (ywo ways) you should be able to get a nice carry-on bag with appropriate pockets, containers and so on for suits. computers and what have you.

Mine is a Samsonite that cost between £100 - £120 a couple of years ago. One of the best buys I've made, since I travel a lot, and never have checked-in.

Ryanair let you have a shoulder bag as well as a wheelie bag.

Incidentally jno, from 15th January, Ryanair are cutting back to a single piece of cabin baggage.

They realised they were being too kind to their customers.

I must say I always have to pay for
a hold bag on holiday routes including Easyjet but that was last September. Don't forget if it's carry on you can't take any liquids bigger than 100ml and that includes toiletries like shampoo and aerosols such as deodorant and shower gels etc.

Rather than pay £60 it'd be cheaper to wear the suit for your journey, or fold it up in your hand luggage, and then pay to have it pressed if necessary when you get there

Certainly the only time we've not paid for hold luggage was when we were on a package. When daughter and granddaughter come down it's cheaper to box up their stuff and send up UPS, next day delivery.

When booking with the cheaper Airlines always make sure your ticket includes use of the inboard toilet facilities. I hate having to be told at the last minute to use the outside toilet when in flight.
