A bonus of the cold weather is I've many more birds in the garden than usual for this time of year.
Blue, great, coal and long tailed tits. Green, gold and chaffinches a plenty:-)

We have 2 squadrons of sparrows, a quarrel of starlings, 2 doves, blackbirds, the occasional wren, Piggy the prosperous-looking pigeon and his 'friend' (he sees off the crows which try to invade) and the other day a cock pheasant appeared to clear-up the seeds dropped to the ground. Had blackcaps this Summer. At times the whole view is moving around. Just bought 'premium' fat-balls for their Xmas dinners!
I`ve got 4 bird feeders up and the birds have hardly shown any interest. I have noticed a robin trying to get to the peanuts so I put out the robin feeder that was completely ignored last year. Still no interest. The only interest is from the female blackbird who is getting through the miniature crab apples.
