I can see 'that's' = IE and standard = FLAG, but I'm still short of PERS that presumably relates to 'A leader in the Sun'? so would be grateful for a nudge in the right direction.

Many thanks for the feedback, and so many good suggestions. I was unable to parse it satisfactorily myself. Whilst I'd completed the puzzle several days ago, I was unable to rest knowing the wordplay on this clue had eluded me.

Thanks all for sorting this - I was 2 letters from completing the crossword without aids.

I was starting to get furious at first when I saw the Robin Van Persie stuff as I haven't looked at a Sun in decades. I don't think I've seen A = PER before but it's perfectly legitimate.
