Tv Quiz Shows

I like to watch university challenge and if I get more than two correct answers I am quite satisfied.
However I have tried to get into only connect but only ever managed to get an average of one correct per show ( excluding the last two rounds )
is this quiz just very difficult or is my mind just not on their train of thinking?
anyone else think it too difficult to be entertaining ?

Try watching with a pause button available - stop the show after two or three of each of the clues in the first rounds and see if a moment's thought can get you somewhere near. Similarly, pause 'the wall' as soon as it starts and have a good think.
I also think it's a programme which is improved by having a couple of peole watching together and bouncing ideas around.

Both UC and Only Connect have recently got harder because they are both in the quarter/semi finals stages.
On a regular OC I do OK. I like OC because it is a quiz without general knowledge questions, and is more like codebreaking.
Both are hard quizzes when compared to the teatime entertainment offerings The Chase, Pointless and Eggheads.
(And I have a bit of a crush on Victoria)

I cant do crosswords - and am not prepared to train myself.
The standard for university cack up is to swot a dictionary - which is terribly boring and I have done ....
only connect there are bits I can so - missing vowels
thw water wall a lot of the time is - - - opaque
short enough not to be boring

I love both quizzes. I usually get quite a few correct on UC - c.10 on average. OC is very hard - but such a good workout! I can usually get 2 or 3, more if I'm fast enough on the missing letters round, but some of the walls lately have completely baffled both of us. If you keep watching, you'll click into the way of things, it's a sort of cryptic crossword way of thinking, really. You can get onto the OC site and have a go at walls to practice. :)
thank you all for your answers
I am more at ease knowing that I have now got to be it the cryptic crossword mindset.
I used to love the Today newspaper cryptic as it was new and challenging and I could keep up as we all started on a level field and none of us had bee doing guardian/telegraph/times and got to know the compilers wave of thought. so I will persevere with oc until I get it
