Not So Smart Phone!
10 Answers
My old trusty mobile finally gave up the ghost. A bit like someone who takes on an abandoned dog, I don’t really know how old it was as it was given to me by my nephew. I think it was about fifteen years old. It will be sadly missed.
Anyway, life goes on. I had considered buying a similarly simple replacement. However, I thought if I have to make a change, I’d like to use the “Wetherspoons’ Order & Pay App”. So I bought myself a so-called “Smart Phone”. I make or receive about two or three phone calls a month and exchange the occasional text or two. So nothing special was needed and I went for an “IMO Q22. Before buying it I checked the requirements of the Wetherspoons’ App. All it needed was Android 4.2 or higher. My new phone runs on Android 5.1.
Alas when I try to download the App, I get the message “Your device isn’t compatible with this version”. All a bit disappointing as it is the only feature I was hoping to use apart from the odd phone call and text. Any ideas what may be the cause and if there is anything I can do about it?

Thanks for the replies.
No I didn't get it from Tesco and I don't want to return it anyway. It does what I want (just) and the App is a "nice to have" not essential.
I found the App on the Wethers' website. Two options - for i-Phones and Android devices (via Google store).
I'll have a look at the IMO support kindly provided by Tilly.

Having looked at the specs of this phone I see the screen resolution is 800x480 pixels. This is VERY low, probably the lowest I have ever seen on a phone (my phone is 2560x1440 pixels).
My guess this is why the app wont work
But also sadly this phone was not a good choice.
It only has 8Gb of ROM memory, but while this may not be the cause of your problems it is far too little for a phone nowadays. Android and the built in apps probably takes over half of that before you start.
Also Android 5.1 is over 3 years old which is very old in smartphone terms.
Most modern apps will be tested on the latest version of Android but may not be tested on the older versions.

It has a 16Gb SDHC card in it. God knows why. I can't imagine how making a phone call can require 24Gb. I should have thought that if the App requires Android 4.2 or higher then 5.1 should suffice. Still no matter and thanks for your reply.
It wasn't really a bad choice. I don't want a phone for anything other than making and receiving the odd call or text and it does that well enough. The App was just something I thought I'd use given the chance. I actually find mobile phones a bit of an unnecessary encumbrance - certainly not worth wasting any time or much money on. I guess I'll have to slog up to the bar to get my grog.

Chaces are the memory card just holds data such as photos, video, etc.. I was most annoyed when I first got a so called smart phone and separate memory card to find android wouldn't allow applications to be stored there. That was what the card was bought for. Plenty of excuses made for it but a ridiculous restriction which I still consider a con.
