I have a phone to seldom use mainly for free (home broadband)wifi sites (e.g. like AB,not calls or texts). I get a monthly Giffgaff £7 data goody bag which only lasts a fortnight, then I'm charged per minute. Why? where is the money being spent?
Unless you specifically turn off 'mobile data', then whenever you are away from your home wifi your phone will use mobile data to keep apps up to date (eg checking of email etc) - this can burn through a small data allowance pretty quickly.
Thank you for these. I switch broadband on at home when required. Roaming might be on too, also apps,is this necessary? (Think I'm answering myself here!)
