What Are British Values?

We often hear mention of 'British values'. As defined by the Government, and now taught in our schools, they are:

- DEMOCRACY
-THE RULE OF LAW
-INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY, and
-RESPECT AND TOLERANCE OF THOSE WITH DIFFERENT FAITHS AND BELIEFS AND FOR THOSE WITHOUT FAITH

Do you think these are British values? What do British values mena? What British values would you add to the list, if any?

I think folk will find their view of British values overlap with other, yet have differences. Which is fair enough as we all have different life experiences. Personally I think, as a Brit, I can hold conflicting values as I believe one can work out priorities depending on a situation. One value need not always be supreme. It's a changing variable world we cope with.

British values are indefinite depending on whom you are talking to among the nation, whether it is what they want them to look/sound like in public (appearance) or strictly in private, whether it is what others deduce from British behaviour, etc., etc. In short, they are indeterminate and change with time and circumstance to render any suggested lasting/defined collection irrelevant.

They're the same values as almost every 1st world country. I've no Idea why they need to be dressed up as 'British'. Seems divisive to me.
