Poker Face - the money
5 Answers
When "Millionaire" first started, the production company took out insurance against anyone actually winning the million, because it was new territory and they were scared of losing lots. This despite the vast amounts they make from the phone-ins. However, the new one - "Poker Face" not only guarantees lots of money being paid out along the way and 50,000 each day prize, BUT paid the million on Sunday. The total spent must be well in excess of anything before with no visible extra income! Has anyone any ideas on the logic, were they hoping to make vast profits from the advertising? even with the two kids presenting (or are the two kids reckoned to be so popular they will generate extra advertising income)

Ant and Dec just said they put the idea to ITV and they agreed to pay up.
I must admit though, it was a great format and I thoroughly enjoyed it - especially the final two !! He lost over 75,000 by trying to bluff the girl. So pleased she won.
