Are you a royalist?
Personally I'm not.
I just don't understand the hype surrounding the Royal family (forthcoming marriage, birth etc)
If Joe Bloggs, from a council estate, announced a marriage or birth who would give a fig?
But because some ultra rich 'ruling' family do its all over the news. Why?
I have actually met both Charles and Camilla, and very nice they were too, but what makes them any different from you or I? (or from joe Bloggs from a council estate)?

"Our country has had a monarchy for hundreds of years. What would you put in their place? A president and his entourage that would screw the country for their own greed?"
What do you think the Kings and Queens of old were doing, if not screwing the country for their own greed most of the time? King John, Charles I and I guess Henry VIII all spring to mind as prime examples of country-screwers...
But I actually like the monarchy, for some reason I can't quite fathom. There's something to be said for state duties being apolitical, and HM the Queen has managed that wonderfully.

I like having a Monarchy but like many others I did wonder about the minor Royals and how they get their money. It was quite a surprise to find out that a lot of them do work and have some very interesting jobs. Amongst the jobs --actress, photographer, chef, model, financier, furniture designer, writer, paediatrician, art dealer and lots more.
The Queen has worked hard all of her life and I don't ever remember her apart from a few odd days ,being ill.
I daresay there have been many days in her life when all she wanted to do would be to turn over in bed and say--''*** it ,I'm staying in bed today''.She can't do that and has to get up to face the day with a smile , shake hundreds of hands, eat and drink at different functions, make polite conversation . Home to bed and then to do the same thing the day after.
I wouldn't swop roles with her for anything.

I am not a royalist and could not care less about their breeding programme.... the only thing that makes them different is that they are loaded...and have the choice of several very large homes that they have not had to do much to achieve....It does upset me to some extent that there are many extremely hard working people in the UK that struggle to survive and these people have it all. I have the same feelings as you on the subject. I do wonder who is paying for yet another overpriced wedding........
I don't know why, because I never give it a lot of thought, but I like some of them, especially William and Kate and their children. The Queen is one of our greatest assets and it will be a sad and sorry day indeed when we lose her. I am also looking forward to the wedding and in particular seeing the dress. I love Harry. And I am more than happy feeling this way and don't care what anyone thinks ...
