What would you do?

My bf is best man for his friend along with another of their friends as the groom could not decide between them!Apparently close friends and family only, so as his partner Im not invited to the ceremony, just the dance in the evening. I was ok with this as they said the other best man's partner wasnt getting to the ceremony either. It now turns out she has been invited to the whole thing. So heres me wondering why Im not? I said to my partner I now dont want to go to the evening dance as I feel uncomfortable with the situation. Am I being petty?

A budget doesn't mean you can't have friends there, it just does mean you have to be selective.
Although I still hold to my original post that it does seem odd to invite one and not the other, especially when it's someone important to the wedding party as the Bestman, unless the poor Bride has been pressurised into inviting the other Bestmans partner. And I have to admit, I would like to think my husband would say no thank you to the day invite and just accompany me to the evening do, bu then that's just becuase I know my husband would hate to go to a full day wedding anyway!!!
It's the couples day, let them do it the way they want to and just be happy for them.

Thanks for all your replies folks. Im glad a few agree Im not being petty. In reply to some of your queries
1. Its not a money issue, they are loaded.
2. I have been with my bf 5 years, I live with him. I have known the couple concerned since I met him.
3. The groom has apologised to my bf, apparently the other partner was offered a place to go during a recent night out and now they regret it!! (not buying that one!)
For my bfs sake I am going because it puts him in an akward position if I dont. He has told his mate he will have to leave for an hour to drive and pick me up though, as he wont have me turning up to the evening dance on my own. I will go because I love my bf, no other reason. Think I better stay off the vino tho!! ;)

Just to clarify, if he was just going as a regular guest I would be ok about it but he is best man! He has been very supportive about it and even offered to decline their invitation himself. obviously, I want him to go and he will look gorgeous in his kilt lol!!! I will go and smile through gritted teeth, and just hope they feel bad about it. And if any other guests ask why I was not at the ceremony I will quite happily tell them I was not invited!!

Hi alijangra,
No, you are not.
I have been invited to many weddings in my lifetime, when I was young and single, young and with b/f, older with b/f,
older and single, older older with b/f, and older older with husband! Never, in all of those invites were they addressed to Jeep (only), always Jeep and companion, whether I had a friend to go with or not. (Oh! and for all the pedants: Mr & Mrs Jeep..are invited to:...)
It does seem very strange that your name is not on the invite, and I like many others on here would feel quite offended/miffed/perplexed!

I would be most miffed.
I have been married twice, and both times I included a 'plus one' on the invites. For the couples I knew, I included both names. For the others I stated 'plus one' just in case they wanted to bring along a companion or partner.
Some people find it awkward going to weddings alone ~ I wanted to make sure everyne felt comfortable.
