What Plant Is This?

Hi all. Every year this plant grows very fast and to a great height with tall stems and purple flowers. The bees love the flowers and swarm all over it! Around early Autumn the plant dies off. This year it's not started to regrow (should be by now). I'd like to replace it but do not know it's name. I've attached a picture link....thanks! http://tinypic.com/r/14ca7p2/9

needs pruning down after flowering each year and it bursts back..I take mine down to about 4 inches

I agree with Lavatera.
It does well in a sunny spot.

Lavatera but I think it is the wild form. I would dig it out and replace it with a prettier larger flowered variety.
