Rocky, Check out B. 'alternifolia' specifically and I think you will find it distinctly different to the usual spiky varieties of Budlea.

Definitely not a lilac, got a magnifier on the flowers and it is buddliea alternifolia if its left alone it cqan have a lax trailing habit.

I came across an attractive (IMO) plant yesterday at the other end of my road - methinks I must go and get a picture of it to challenge all you astounding (to me, anyway) plant sleuths.

I forgot to say look at the leaves as well as the flowers

After closer inspection, I do believe that it's the buddleia (sp)
