Lovely morning again and some good handicap racing. Lots of cards but a lot of small fields which are no help to the value punter like myself. Pitman's Derby day ooop North which is always a spectacle, and The Irish Derby.

Euchen Glen @9/1 1.30 Newcastle
Natural Scenery @9/1 2.05 Newcastle
Voyager Blue @7/2 2.45 York
Most Gifted @7/2 4.00 Curragh

£1.00 E/W Acca. 4 X 30p Trebles. 6 X 30p Doubles £5.00 Stake. Enhanced places odds taken on the first two with B.O.G. Good Luck to all.

Morning Togo. I recoiled in absolute horror couple of years back when i heard Newcastle was going all weather. "But what about the Pitman's Derby?" i silently screamed. Imagine the furore if Epsom went a.w. and the Derby was run on Tapeta!!

Anyway, what's done can't be undone - unless it's a shoe lace. Very early start because of the World Cup so i've done 2 L15s today (taking the enhanced place odds where applicable) the first of which is based on the riders from Richard Fahey's stable.

12.20 N'c; Shanghai Glory @ 7/1
12.55 N'c; Kimberella @ 5/1
2.10 York; Starlight Romance @ 4/1
2.45 York; International Man @ 9/1

Win singles, 20p lucky 15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = approx £31, 4 winners = £3,262

2.05 N'c; Lagostovegas @ 15/2 (Rev f/c Withhold)
2.40 N'c; Belisa @ 17/2 (Rev f/c Sugarloaf Mountain)
4.30 York; Tylery Wonder @ 11/1
5.00 York; Abel Tasman @ 11/2 (AJ rides in 2.05, then down here)

Win singles, 20p lucy 15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = approx £71, 4 winners = £8,314.

Best of luck, all.

Ahh my old favourite Kimberella Ken. I have followed it for years and me giving it a swerve probably means it is a shoe in for you. :((

As you probably know we lost our beloved dog Cassie earlier in the year, and when I pointed out to "She who must be obeyed" that there was a horse called Castle Hill Cassie running in the 2.10 @ York she insisted on a little punt at 13/2.
'SWMBO' was a tad unlucky with 'Cassie' there, Togo. Only beaten 3 parts of length giving a stone in weight, taking winning rider's allowanace into consideration.

Yeah I noticed Ken, drat. Euchen Glen did my fruit in. Beaten by a nose and winning 6 inches past the line. Double drat.
