Tuesday. Cloudy this morning, cooler too. It will warm up again a bit later. Just noticed the clouds are going the wrong way. Could be a bit damp later.
I went for a wee stroll down the lane, the usual pair of badgers, a fox and a couple of other wee beasties going about their lawful occasions in the undergrowth.
Togo, when I met him he was living in Menai Bridge. So crossing the bridge to the island was always special.
Still on leg resting and bored out of my brain. Normally I can't sit still for more than ten minutes so enforced idleness is doing my head in. My only required activity today will be opening the door and taking in the grocery delivery. Even standing in the kitchen has been replaced by ping meals.
Ahh. Righto Rowan. We pass through Menai Bridge. Bet he knew the Liverpool Arms and the Bridge then. Nice little town, that used to have a thriving bonded saw mill, and dock.
Yes, but the old Liverpool Arms that for some reason had Shepherd Neame Spitfire on draught. The Bridge keeps their beer better though. Make sure you get an ice cream in Beaumaris they are some of the best I have ever had. Oooh I must get back there. Church island is calling. Sis fancies a few days away might take her and show her the places that were important to us. She will love Moelfre. Tea at Anne's pantry before a walk round to watch the birds and seals near the island.
We used to cross the bridge every time we went to Ireland. Get there the day before and have a mooch around before catching the 0900 ferry the following morning. Always stayed in the same B&B. Always had to go to the railway station with the longest name. We never could pronounce it!
Dave showed me a lot of the island, I wanted to move there but couldn't get a job in the public sector because I wasn't a Welsh speaker. He came to Birmingham but deep down I knew he never really settled. Too far from the sea.
Although I was in the army I spent a lot of time on the water in one way and another. Still do. Everything from canoes to ocean going ships. When I lived near Portsmouth I spent a lot of time on the Solent, Spithead and the Channel. Loved it!
I have always loved the water too, if I wasn't on it I was falling in it, even as a small child I needed rescuing often. I even went on a trip to Bath and ended up up to my knees in the big Roman pool. I think if I had my life over I'd definitely live by the sea.
