Coronation Street policeman

Does anyone know whether the actor who played the policeman who cautioned David Platt in the police station over the Hillman cards in Coronation Street is in any way related to Alastair Stewart, the London Tonight newsreader? According to the credits they have the same surname and they look a lot like each other so are they both related?
