When I watch this programme I end up thinking back to my childhood.
My grandparents were quite comfortable. Had a nice house, lots of ornaments, used to have a business but sold it.
When they died my mother had to clear the house. She put all the ornaments in the bin. There were a couple of Lalique figures that I have recognised since then. She didn't like anything like that only really liking modern stuff.
They didn't leave any money at all. Mother searched the house, even looked up the chimney but never found anything.
I could have inherited a fortune!!

Mahogany dining table and chairs that could seat 16 anyone., masses of Asian art and small furniture pieces, Islamic brass and loads of Doulton Lambethware, I have a pair of lovely art nouveau vases I asked my mum to keep for me. I wish I'd rescued the black marble garniture as well, it was really spooky and so heavy.
