Really? As a parent our job is to educate and remove suspicion and unnecessary fear from our kids, maybe a good start would be to go on the internet to show them people of the world whose colour, cultural dress differs from ours and that not everyone who is different needs to be feared and held in suspicion.
//I saw a picture in today’s paper of three (presumably) women clad from the top of their head to their feet in what can only be described as a black dustsheet. There was no indication that what lay underneath was human.//
Omg I nearly choked to death in laughter after reading that and these comments would be so sad if they weren’t scandalously hilarious.
Was the figure a biped? Walked upright? Had 4 limbs, 1 head and was devoid of tentacles, a trunk, horns or a tail? Didn’t just exit a saucer shaped flying object? Was In a populated area not trying to eat people?!Then I’m pretty sure it was a human.
It’s no wonder with adults amongst us who see other cultures as scary faceless non human monsters that we then project our irrational fears or PHOBIAS to our kids and grandkids thus never ending the cycle of scaremongering and mass hysteria.
We really need to think long, hard and deep about what we’re foing here.

When I first came on here, I was accused of not being a new member which quite surprised me, BUT I am 100% certain that the one posting on here and having continual digs at aog is a former member who only recently left - couldn't stay away for long could you Islay ?? Personally, if I was you aog, I would totally ignore her and not let her rile you. I accept that's easier said than done though.

Most of it sounds sensible, if courageous. Unsure about different penalties depending on where a crime's been committed though. Nor how effective removing the "right" to child benefits might be. It would be nice if everyone could wear whatever they liked, but the burka is a form of subjection and indicates an upbringing that warps reasonable belief in one's right not to have to hide away. Good luck to the Danes, let's hope they've found the solution to integration in fewest generations, and can create a society with best practice throughout.
