Saturday Punt 28/07/2018

Plenty of good racing again but will be keeping my powder dry for the Goodwood Festival next week. So a little punt today just for interest whilst keeping an eye on Geraint Thomas and the Grand Prix practice sessions. The King George looks like a hot race and it looks as if Cracksman is still in. I will not be putting a runner from it in my multibet but may pinch a bit of e/w on Hydrangea later. You all know that if I swerve Poet's Word it will win I suppose. :(( My first selection is the horse that got Dettori a ban by running sideways.
Angel's Hideaway @9/2 1.50 Ascot
War Eagle @ 12/1 2.15 Newmarket
Hasanoanda @4/1 2.50 Newmarket

£1.00 E/W Acca. 4 X 30p Trebles. 6 X 30p Doubles. £5.00 total stake. Possible £5.6k.

I think this hot weather must have frazzled my grey matter the last few weeks because, while taking the enhanced place prices for my bets, i haven't separated the e.w. acca from the Luck 15, meaning that i've taken the same low price on the win bet. Down comes the rain, cooling everyone and everything, and - Hey Presto! The grey cells wake up. Not that i've had many winners tolose out on, but one day:-)
2.25 Asc ; Corrosive @ 13/2 e.w. - 7/1 L15
2.40 Yor; Harome @ 12/1 e.w. - 14/1 L15
3.00 Asc; Rip Orff @ 10/1 e.w. - 11/1 L15
3.20 N'c; Florencio @ 8/1 both
Win singlrs, 20p Lucky 15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = £110, 4 winners = £13,506.
Also, with weather in mind, done a little 50p patent, 50p treble on Blizzard, Stormbringer and Stormin' Tom which, in the unlikely event of it being a successful bet, will net me £168.
Good luck, all

Good to see you turned a profit, Togo. I needed Harome to place for the £110 e.w. money. Not to be. Couldn't win a raffle if i was the only one buying the tickets:-( I'm so depressed i'm thinking of throwing myself off...............................................my armchair. Or maybe something not quite as high.
I would say "Roll on Goodwood" but it's definitely not one of my favourite meetings:-/

Togo having been involved in the betting industry for many many years I can tell you the Bookmakers love yankees as it is a mug bet. One loser and 7 of your 11 bets have gone down. A much better bet for the same money is pick 7 selections then perm any three from seven in non consecutive order and and a 7 fold accumulator . Many times I have done this bet with 4 winners but with one treble and have been paid on 4
The bets are 135,136, 137, 146, 147,157, 246, 247, 257, 357 and 1234567 . Put your strongest fancies at 1 and 7 and next best at 3 and 5 ,next 4 then your outsider at 2 and 7 . Happy Punting

Know what you are saying Gollob, but honestly I only have a punt for the fun and involvement in the races. When I get a little touch it is a bonus, when I lose it is not going to harm me. The bookies cannot lose overall no matter if I get one over or not. They write the book and we go with it. The bet you describe is not dissimilar to the old "Flag" bet that Will Hill used to push like mad on their pre printed slips so they are not liable to be to afraid of that either. You could get 3 winners and get nothing back. We mix our own poison I suppose. At least my stakes allow a little cover if the first or even the second runner goes down if I feel like it.
