highlander looks right- so that makes both Cs wrong.
Keep the clues coming for us please

Wow! Thank you! I would never have thought of that!!!

I know where I went wrong with the two C letters. The first C was hit and run, not cut and run ( the clue was slap dash) , and this now makes sense if I put hit and run. So it is just the Test this Balance. So do I go for trial or twirl? And you say that Rock is the answer for Stone said old bird, so that would fit in with Highlander coming down. I am so grateful for all your help.
Trial better than Twirl I think.
mcould audit fit the test balance one?
Seen the above now. I agree with TRIAL if it's a twirl/trial choice
I think we have the apttern

No, as I am sure the T*i*l are all correct. I think I will go for Trial and see if it is correct. As you may have guessed, I am new to cryptic crosswords but they are great fun and I hope to improve!! Thanks for all the clues!
or pattern :-)
I have moved this thread into the category "Crosswords".

20 a was ' at a rate of knots'. Can you remind me what the clue was for 24 a, and I might remember my answer! 22 a- I put ' trial'. If you look at the earlier threads that seemed the best answer.
This is your thread, the clue is on the first page
