Hi hoping someone can help!
I took my car for MOT today-thank it's a Renault Grand Scenic with an automatic handbrake. I pulled up to the garage and applied the handbrake as usual. They've tested the car and failed it saying that the handbrake doesn't work, and sure enough it now doesn't! The handbrake was fine when I parked it, and they know it was on from when they drove it onto the ramps. I believe they would also have had to have applied the brake once they got it on the ramp.
When I questioned them about this they said the rollers can cause malfunction of the handbrake if it's automatic but can't see how this could work.
Basically they're taking no responsiblity for the malfunction and I'm expected to pay for it! They said it must've been broke already and there's no way I could've parked it on a hill before without parking in gear, but I live at the top of a slight hill and I have always used my handbrake when parking as it's never had any problems.
What do I do?
Thanks

Nope didn't work. Thanks though.
Seems to be three common faults.

Have you looked at the fuse? Fuses sometimes blow for no reason - it's always worth checking. If it has blown, replace it and try again. If it blows again you have a problem.
There are some things that you really don't need....an automatic handbrake seems to be one of them!
