well one would have thought you've had it from the horses mouth.
dosnt really matter what we think - more what the insurance co think

What a load of rowlocks, plod would know if you were covered or not and would have treated you accordingly.
It really does depend on the wording of your particular policy.

These are the most common stipulations.

//Am I covered to drive any vehicle?
You are covered to drive any vehicle owned by the policyholder or any in the policy holders custody and control for motor trade purposes.

Can I drive someone else’s car with their permission?
Only if the vehicle is in the custody and control of the policyholder for motor trade purposes, eg a crash repairer or bodyshop.//
No you're not because it's not a vehicle you are driving with regards to your 'trade'. On the traders policy we have we can nominate cars which we ourselves can drive (I have my own insurance because of my age so doesn't apply to me) but no-one can just go off and drive a car of a relative which isn't part of a trade deal or nominated as one of ours on the policy. Plod do not generally like Traders Policies so your error was telling them it was your girlfriends in the first place.
kval.....might be a boyfriend......
True that woof- apologies for not thinking x
As Mamya indicates, you'd need to check the exact wording of the policy but every trade policy I've ever seen has had wording similar to that illustrated by Mamya.

i.e. you're only permitted to drive another perrson's vehicle if such driving is done in course of your motor trading activities. (e.g. driving a customer's vehicle between your workshop and their home or taking it for a test run after completing a repair).
