Lack Of Intelligence.

With the greatest lf respect to every ABer, I often feel out of my depth when confronting other ABers who appear to have university degrees, and / or have careers that simply make me look stupid in a debate.
Yes I know it is paranoia on my part, but it often makes me feel uncomfortable, as if my comments are worth less than the educated.
No question about me, but does anybody else feel this?

I never feel out of my depth conversing with anyone, ever. If you can state your case with conviction, and back it up, you have nothing to fear. I think, as a Christian, you have a seriously tough job convincing people of your beliefs, but to your credit, you never stop trying.

Many on here have specific areas of expertise, either from careers or personal interests. After a while you learn who is likely to give a useful answer rather than just being first to Google a link.
I know I am ok on some medical stuff from my time nursing
Lots of different crafts, gardening, nature, and beer.
Side interests in natural disasters and paganism and sexuality.
I never completed a degree course, only diploma level but with a range of strange courses under my belt. 12 weeks on home organisation and cluttering any use? Maybe not.
One thing I do find difficult is when an established member is giving out advice I know to be unwise or untrue. I have wanted to report answers in the past where there is a genuine risk but feel I might look petty and people might think I am a know it all.

I've reported a couple of answers in the past that are out and out dangerous or absolutely wrong in the sense that it's legal information which is absolutely untrue ( not that that's my area of expertise Rowan but even so it was glaring) and I don't think that other site members know who has reported something and I certainly never think you come off as a know all x
I rarely express opinions without having some sort of knowledge base to back it up. However I will express a feeling about things but I try to make it clear when it is an emotional response.
So far as feeling inferior, I know when someone is better placed than I am to give advice. That person in return would probably not know how to care for a critically ill patient or be able to identify even relatively common wild birds. We all bring a different gift to the table. My quiche, your potato salad, Barmaid's prawn vol Au vents and Sqads garlic mushrooms for example

/// Slip gauges, sine bars, milling , turning, grinding, drilling, boring, and picking up the tool bag to sink into the depths of a filthy machine, and fix it. ///
I wouldn't think that a Millwright would have much use for "Slip gauges" or "sine bars".
A "Big Hammer" is all that is normally needed. :0)

The difference between knowledge and intelligence is key here.
Knowledge is the collection of skills and information a person has acquired through experience. Intelligence is the ability to apply knowledge. Often the two do not go hand in hand. You can get a certificate for Knowledge but not Intelligence.
