The reason I asked is because, amongst the young I know (kids and their friends) they ALL drive. I dont know one that doesnt. But then I suspect these people with an agenda didnt ask in the areas where public transport is naf.

That is less than meaningless, ymb. That's like trying to guess at the state of Britain's motorways based on the condition of the street outside your house.
The only valid way we can approach trying to learn about things like car ownership is measuring it on a wide scale,which is what the Commission on Travel Demand is for.
