I think a good quiz master would give a basic introduction to the audience then prompt the contestants to supply more information.

The voiceover man should introduce them with brief details, the host could then have a very quick chat but NO silly/funny stories which no one wants to hear and takes up too much of the show.

I was watching an old 'Strick it Lucky' the other day and it was 15 minutes before the game started.

I like them to just get on with it.
