Call me sexist, but the female commentator on the England v Aus rugby union match on BBC2 now is dire. Anyone else fed up with PC BBC moves like this?

When I saw her win her second gold even the Chelsea supporters sitting next to us in the bar (not normally a pleasant bunch may I add) were cheering.
This sort of thing makes me wryly smile.

I'm exaggerating to make a point, but it seems to me that if you are in possession of a penis at the BBC, you've got no chance of replacing somebody else who is in possession of a penis (look at Zoe Ball and Fiona Bruce. As good as they are (and Fiona Bruce is Number 1 on my list of 'Newsreaders I'd like to have a go on') it was pretty inevitable the jobs would be going to women.

As for sports reports - I'm glad somebody else has notice this. A few weeks ago BBC Breakfast on Saturday morning led with women's rugby. My view on this is (a) there were more important sports stories that day (b) if you've ever watched women's rugby, it is dire - absobloodylutely awful, and (c) it is a minority sport. They may as well led on tiddlywinks which.probably has a greater following.

It's all a bit silly really.
Why does anyone respond to 'comments' such as those of No10 who's looking to stir a response, if you ignore the type they're most unhappy!
I don't mind them having a go at sport. It's the ridiculous notion they deserve the same money gets me, lol.

Wow just wow, this thread is comedy gold. I hear she feels the same about you Deskdiary *Titterfarkle*
Women's rugby, football, cricket and boxing....zzzzzz. Most females in those sports are way too butch for my liking. As for women pundits and commentators on men doing those sports....no thanks. No way should women tennis players get equal pay to the males until they play the same amount of sets and draw the same crowds....and stop grunting!
I remember all those people too. They were good weren't they? For women. Good in their own sphere doesn't mean I'd want to watch them. These things get over-hyped.
I watched the highlights programme yesterday and thought she was very good.
The thread seems to have diverged, from one about women commentating on men's sport, to women's sport itself.

Women are obviously perfectly capable of commentating on men's or women's sport. Some of the best talkers I know are women.

I didn't see the BBC coverage but if the commentator was crap, that's not unusual. I can't stand Brian Moore and Eddie Butler's commentary, for example.

Commentators often divide opinion. It shouldn't be the fact that she was a woman that made her commentary poor. Women are definitely capable of commentating on rugby matches.
The one and only Rugby commentator- Eddie Waring
He only commentated on Rugby League though, Danny ...
Eddie Waring - a grand lad!
A true up and under was Eddie Waring.
