To me soy milk tastes like pond water and I figured if my body hated it so much it couldn't need it. The yam cream might have worked or it might have been placebo.... I did try HRT but this was 25 years ago and there were less options. I refused premarin. anyway HRT turned me into a real throwing things harridan so that was a no go for me too. I gave up alcohol which didn't help, cut right down on sugar, also didn't help
Things that worked. Wearing and sleeping under all natural fibres, cotton, modal, tencel, linen. Reducing stress as far as possible. Using a cold water spray. Swearing.
Not to wee on your parade, but 'get through" how I laughed....I still get hot flushes and dizziness although not nearly so severe or so frequent as they were at their height. They are like old friends....
If its only hot flushes, I believe there is a non hormonal treatment for them now.

I made something very similar, I think it helped. I did use hrt because I had a surgical menopause at 40 also refused premarin on ethical grounds. It made a big difference after I found one that suited me. I chose a dose that reduced but didn't remove the symptoms all together. I felt I needed to respect the life change but had to stay functional to work.

Well I can’t cut down on clothes as I sleep naked any way I thought I was going through menopause fir last 3 yrs as I was getting flushed and tiredness but last month it’s really stepped up so much so it’s waking me up around 6 times during night leaving me tired and irritable I can put up with it in day but the bed time ones are killing me didn’t want to take tablets for it if poss so I’ll try push through it I think thanks guys x
Another tip that works for me both during hot flushes and during the summer heatwaves was keeping my bedsheets in the freezer. Fold up a loose bedsheet and place it in a plastic bag(so you dont get ice crystals) and store it in the freezer during the day. When you come to bed, take it out and it is so lovely and cold to sleep under. Keeps me cool enough to get to sleep. During the recent summer heatwaves, I was keeping 2 in there so that I could swap them during the night if it stayed hot.
I can personally recommend these "cool towels" which we used a lot during this year's very hot weather...quite a bargain.
