Yes I think you’re right, Max. There was an interesting article by Nick Timothy in the Torygraph yesterday which concluded with this:
Brussels has screwed Britain, Remainers have screwed the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister has screwed the Leavers. The result is the Establishment has screwed the public.
The principle architect of all this screwing has been Mrs May, ably assisted by most of Parliament. She “negotiated” with the EU whilst informing them that, so desperate is the country for a “deal”, that she would capitulate to just about anything they demanded (and she did). Parliament, despite voting five to one to invoke A50 obviously, with a few exceptions, with little intention of allowing a proper Brexit to follow. Mrs May is now in a trap of her own making: her deal will be (quite rightly) comprehensively rejected by the Commons; the EU will not renegotiate it; Parliament will not countenance a “No Deal” exit. Mr Timothy is absolutely correct.

The 'democratic facade' disintegrates before their eyes yet still leaving the public bamboozled;
“[We need an] Arab facade ruled and administered under British guidance and controlled by a native Mohammedan and, as far as possible, by an Arab staff…. There should be no actual incorporation of the conquered territory in the dominions of the conqueror, but the absorption may be veiled by such constitutional fictions as a protectorate, a sphere of influence, a buffer state and so on.”— Lord Curzon

YMB:
"[May] tried bullying everyone, a knee jerk reaction at chequers would have looked petulant and I am pretty sure you would now be on here saying so. "
Well, possibly. I don't hold much respect for leading Brexiteers anyway, as I think they are wrong in their aims and approach. But, presumably, some criticism of those three is well-justified no matter your standpoint on Brexit? Johnson in particular was an incompetent, gaffe-prone bungler of a foreign sec, while Davis was not much good as Brexit Sec. either (even before May "took over").
