We have just been given a new Canon Pixma TS3150 printer. Tried to set it up, but no go. It is a wireless model, but we do not have a wireless router. Cannot find any way of connecting it to the computer with a USB cable. Any help for a non specialist user gratefully received
Unless it is a very old router I would be VERY surprised if your router is not wireless enabled.
If it IS non-wireless then contact your ISP and get them to send you a new router (it will probably be free)
Why cant you connect it with a USB cable?
Normally a printer cable is USB one end (that plugs in to the computer) and a square connector the other end (that plugs in to the printer). It often comes with the printer.
When I connected a cable from the printer (as described by Guilbert) and the USB end into the computer it thought I had connected to a router.
We did not need a wireless router when we started out as there is only one machine and it sits next to the router and is connected by a cable.
Thanks folks. Expert came today, turned it on and it worked instantly. As far as I can see he did nothing different to what I had already done. The way of the world I suppose.
