Age to start periods?

Is it normal to have started your periods at 10? I started mine at 10 but all my friends started theirs about 13.Just wandered what were the usual ages at which girls start periods.

I am 17 now and have been having periods for 7 years.I am not worried about the fact I started so young I just wandered what the normal age was. Thanks for all the good replies.I got the answer I wanted.

when i started i was 11 the youngest in my class,well that was years ago now,a mate of mine whos got a girl she didnt start hers till she was 14 i thought that was quiet late but not all girls are tha same are they
