Computer Screen Doesn't Come On
Hi just a simple question one hopes! If a brand new PC monitor doesn't have a power on/off button but is plugged into socket outlet and has connection to the unit, why won't the screen come on? TIA for any help. Model of screen is HP 1CA83AA#ABB. Windows 8.1 running classic 7 shell. Unit comes on but nowt on screen.....sigh!

I seem to remember from another of your question that you are running VGA.
So I think what you need to do is press the "input selection" button to switch from HDMI to VGA.
You can download the documents for the screen here

P.S I would be surprised if it did not have a power on switch, never known a screen that did not have a power on switch.
Check if the various switches are not "hidden" round the side of the frame or on the base of the frame.

See page 7 to locate the power switch. See the note at the top of page 5 if the monitor isn't automatically recognising the correct source:

As for the monitor.... I found both of these numbers as product number on the box 1CA83AA. and this... 1CA83AA#ABB. so now unsure....the one we have doesn't have the column of buttons on the back and the connections on it are hidden on the back and pointing downwards so you have to tip the screen to see them and to insert the leads!
There is a disc that comes with it but if screen not working I won't be able to see it and if I return I don't want to have used the disc. Jeez wish the OH hadn't got it now... Confused dot com me # beam me up scotty !! Xx

I just wanted to thank you guys for helping me out and say I eventually found the buttons for the screen...yay... and found the problem as to why it wouldn't come on. Thanks mainly to OG for mentioning the fuse! This wonderful..erm...ahem...screen made in China, so looked at the fuse in the plug and it was 10 amp! Replaced with a 3 amp and am now able to use the new screen. Thank you all once again.
