Just read that you had a total knee replacement a couple of weeks ago. Would be interested to know how the whole process went as I'm due to have one at the beginning of March. That is if you don't mind sharing of course.

i have had 2 knee replacements previously - would my experience benefit you?

My granddad had one and he was fine after.

My uncle had a hip replacement and the same, he was fine, up and walking the next day.

Yes bednobs it would thank you. I've had two hip replacements and made a full recovery very quickly. Understand a knee is a bit more complicated, hence my interest.

Maggie I had one done end of March 18. Best thing ever did no pain and been great success. Do as you are told goes a long way in recovery. Infection is always biggest fear in any operation. My husband has had both done no problems.... now has a far better quality of life.

i agree that overall things are a LOT better. However in the days immediately post op it was very painful, and my recollection is that it hurt a lot more than the hip replacements. I have had 2 and witht he second one i was offered serial casting afterwards because it didt have the range of movement the other one did. i turned it down as i'd see far too much of hospital by then. I have never been able to kneel on either one

Hallo Maggie - sorry I've been a long time getting back. I am 86 and was very apprehensive about it all. However it all went much much better than I expected and I was home in 3 days. The pain was less than I expected and quite manageable. I am able to get around the house ok but slowly and live in a "town " house with one room each floor - 3 short flights of stairs
. My leg was bent out to the side and is now nice and straight . Very good luck Maggie and do ask again if you want to x.

My friend had a knee replacement on Dec 11th. He's now moving round his house without the aid of crutches. It scares me a bit but he's happy enough with it. The specialist has told him he'll be back playing golf at the end of Feb. Seems a bit ambitious to me that, but what do I know?

Clarion, my sister was back driving her cab after 6 weeks, so that sounds about right. (It was her braking knee, so she had to have it done.)

Sounds good jno. My mate uses a van for his work so he's hoping to be back a soon as possible.

A pal of mine had a knee replacement this summer just gone, he was off work for six weeks.
