Taking water tablets

My friend, who is trying for a baby, has been taking water retention tablets, but read on the packet today they they shouldn't be taken when trying to conceive. Any idea why this is? What would the effects be?

I know that lots of drugs arent (for obvious reasons) arent tested on pregnant women. Ican only assume that the effect on women (and child) who conceives on such drugs is unknown too.
I would suggest that your friend speaks to her doctor if these were prescibed.
