Just answered the door to a man who I noticed straight away wasn't wearing any kind of ID. Then he said "I just want to ask you, does God hava a name?" Why do people feel compelled to do this? They must get so much abuse as well.

I never have the enthusiasm to be other than polite and say that I'm not interested. But like the e-mail con artists' communications, I sometimes think it'd be entertaining to play devil's advocate and lead them on. One day maybe, but not today.

Years ago I had a religious group knock on my door. Their opening gambit was "are you worried about the increase in crime?" I rather smugly said "not really, it pays the mortgage: I'm a lawyer". Stunned silence followed.

I have a sticker on the door saying no uninvited tradesmen etc. I had JW's knock at the door. I pointed out the sticker, he said I cannot read. So I asked why he had a big book under his arm. Only to look at the pictures he said. They have an answer for everything.
Yesterday we were expecting SIL round. Knock on door, we shouted come in, JW tried to come in. OH told him to go way politely!
