Hi my laptop's a/c power plug came out yesterday and the screen went into powersave mode (went dim), the cable was plugged back in but my laptop's display is still dim. I've tried restarting. taking the battery out, gone into the power options, gone into display setting but to no avail.. Can anyone help? It's a packard bell easy note (2005 model) and is running windows xp... thanks

Have you tried the brightness key on the keyboard - usually the Fn key plus one with a brightness symbol. If these things don't work, are you sure that the lapop IS running on mains power? Could the mains unit have been damaged?

Thanks for your answe! Yes it's definately running on ac power as I've taken the battery out and run it. The fn key doesn't seem to work!
Some laptops have a control actually on the side of casing that contains the screen its a small wheel you may have caught accidently
Question Author
Thanks YvonneM, there's no wheel either! It's definately to do with the power source as it worked fine yesterday until the a/c power lead came out and as they do it went darker... just won't come back to the normal bright screen!
Hi, The same thing happened on my Acer the other month. It had to be sent for repair, I was informed that the "Tube" had blown. Apparantly they have some form of "light bulb" that can blow.

The cost was 80 including P&P both ways.

Regards
