Whilst most of the US is in the grip of a Polar Vortex, Australia is experiencing record high temperatures.

If climate change / global warming is occurring why have temps in the US plummeted to record lows? I'm in no way suggesting that climate change isn't happening but it would be interesting to know what others think.

Apparently coal is the big issue, but could still be used if carbon is extracted from the waste before being put out into the environment . Best avoided altogether though.
Climate change is happening, and it is affected by human activity. This is what the science says.

But I'm going to be perfectly honest - I don't particularly care.

Yes.
Why don't you care Ludwig? Do you not worry about future generations, maybe including your own ?

All those weird weather conditions in USA remind me of the film The Day After Tomorrow !
// Why don't you care Ludwig? Do you not worry about future generations, maybe including your own ? //

I don't really. I've got enough to worry about just getting through the day to day of the here and now. Plus I don't feel there's much I can do about it anyway.

I understand that Ludwig, I feel there isn't much I can do about it either ..
If China and India wish to emulate the UK in their Industrial Revolution then all we can do is let them become the richest nations in the world and we can sink back to the level they came from. They give not a toss.
China is already the richest nation, with India third on the list after the USA.
Because magnetic north is varying erratically and about to flip to the south.
^Could you elaborate please?
Global warming doesn't mean that everywhere on earth will warm at a uniform rate. Some parts of the globe may even get colder.
I think the weather now is more chaotic and unpredictable.
As far as human activity is concerned the earth's population is 7 billion and growing. At the turn of the 19th C is was perhaps 1 billion. Such a huge population growth is a relatively short people of time is bound to affect climate.
A final point Trump proves time and again that he doesn't know the difference between weather and climate
