Does anybody feel interested in Bible typology?
Do you understand it as a way of unlocking the Bible?

All you would like is for people to agree with you.
Well, wouldnt we all?
Just remind me again, how many of Spong's works have you read about Jewish Midrash?
(The OP was about Jewish Midrash?)

You havnt read any then?
Why not just say so?
//If you have any of his books, but them in the bathroom where they may get some use//
NOW imagine if I had said the same about the bible and books on bible apologetics? What if I had said that I had used the bible as toilet paper. What would YOUR response have been?
The difference between you and me (and other ABers) is that we HAVE examined the bible and related writings and found them wanting.
Midrash, unfulfilled prophesies, Israel, etc.
Why do you think that you alone have the truth when others have honestly looked into things far deeper than you have?
Personally (cant speak for others) I was convinced that the Bible was the word of God. I read and read everything that I could about it.
I never shyed away from opposing views the way that you do. I faced my doubts head on.

I looked it up
Bible typology is very sixteenth century:
the OT is a pre-play of the New testament and all is connected - and if you pray hard enough God will tell you how they are locked together
sola scriptura baby .... ( sorry nigh bit of forrin there - old forrin)
but this cant be true - some of the old testament actually er happened ( defeat of israel and carting off to Babylon) - and it is a historial record - not meant to be predictive
but tell you what -
( wod dat? a thousand ABers respond)
if you go to King's College Chapel - all the stained glass windows which are early 1500s
I think the top one is OT and the lower one is the NT corresponding event
There is even a book about it - The Kings Glass

erm isnt the point
not to read a gloss on the bible - spong etc
but to read the bible and have divine revelation tell you what it means?
"I havent read the OT but I did read Spong - terribly interesting" - doesnt that substitute spong for the OT? Even I can see that that is a bad deal
sola scriptura - by scripture along
not sola scriptura et spongo - by scripture alone and oh a little smidge of spong to leaven it
Isaac newton spent the last 20 y of his life on this ( yup apple Newton ) and didnt get very far ....

Never heard of "Biblical typology" until this day. Well, there you go.
Am familiar, however, with the concept: the first and second Adam; Jonah in the belly of the whale prefiguring the death and resurrection of Christ.
Then there's Azazel poor thing. And the confused reference to Christ's being "a priest in the order Melchizedek". Re which I'm sure I've heard that Luther doubted the canonicity of Hebrews.
Don't know the point of the post, but, hey, a very good evening to you, Theland.

v_e; Shall wait with anticipation for my hard copy to arrive.
nailit; The "coincidence" is that having received yesterday the present of a bible printed in 1908 in the old German Gothic script (font) I saw this thread called 'Bible Typology'. As there is no such word - that I know of - I assumed it was meant to be 'bible typography'.
But there again, why do I bother? !
