The Pope's view :- "The consecrated person, chosen by God to guide souls to salvation, lets himself be subjugated by his own human frailty, or by his own illness, thus becoming a tool of Satan."

It's all Satan's fault, so that's OK then, nothing to do with the Pope and his disgusting priests!

Will the Pope's weasel words be turned into real action, or will the cover-ups just get more sophisticated. Don't hold your breath.

There is an irony in this situation that would be laughable, were it not that tears are more appropriate - Cardinal George Pell, one of the Pope's closest advisors, and a member of the advisory panel that agreed to investigation of child sex abuse in the church, has been convicted of child sex abuse charges.

If someone that close to the pope is living as a child abuser, then what hope does the Catholic church have of seriously addressing the issues?

I suppose as much chance as Muslims accepting that their most revered was cut from the same cloth.

None. It all works out exactly as they want and they all feel invunerable, untouchable.
douglas - Sadly you are right.

People in high power never seem to use that power to look inwards occasionally and ask themselves honestly if they are living up to their responsibilities, they simply enjoy that fact that they can't remember the last time anyone said "No …" to them.
