Communication
23 Answers
A golfing friend of mine received an email from the Handicap Secretary of his club advising that his handicap had been reduced. Nothing wrong with that, I hear you say. Except the Handicap Secretary is his wife and was sat next to him on the setee. When he asked why she couldn't just tell him, she said that he gets the same treatment as agreed for everyone else, i.e. email notification of handicap changes. Don't you just love 'em? That's communication for you!

Handicap Committees all round the country are going to be having nightmares, believe me. We're still unclear if the handicapping program in our computer will be able to handle it but I haven't been on any of the England Golf tutorials. I can't help thinking of the old saying that "the road to hell...etc. etc." It's now 36 years since the last major change to the handicapping system which was originally used in Australia and adopted here. I'm still not clear myself how this will work as I don't do handicapping, but as I said, it's supposed to be aimed at making the game fairer and more even. When I know more, I'll post on here. Not very clear is it Danny? But major changes are on the way in January 2020.
It's called the World Handicap System, commonly known as the Slope System, where your handicap will change depending on the difficulty of the course.
