Old Pc

I have an old pc that has Windows Vista,every so often I would do copies on an external hard drive.Some time age it was compromised and I was unable to open up,so it was made obsolete.I now have an LG Chrome book,is it possible to view what is on the external drives,considering they were WIN Vista? Thanks.

Drive formats should be standard, so yes.

Over the years I have done hours of copying,but I can only see a minute amount on the ext.h/drive and most of that is "named"such as SDT123 Which doesn't mean a thing to me.Thanks OG.

Can't really explain. Would suspect either corrupt disk/data or encoded for security.

According to that, file backups are ZIP files & volume backups are VHD.
Did you use a 3rd party backup program?
Chromebooks use a different operating system:

Short answer, almost certainly. There are any number of data recovery services who can do this for you - at a price. They will remove the hard disk(s) from your old PC and copy what they can onto other media which you can then view on your Chromebook.
