I know on my fathers side he was related to the old music hall star
Beatrice Lilley.
On my mother's side there is a connection to Maples stores.
I've never traced anything back.
Have you any famous ancestors?
One of my ancestors was a founding member of the Oldham CO-Operative Society, about the same time as the Pioneers of Rochdale. They also had a large chain of furniture shops which was later sold to a company called Beddoes, if anyone in the NW as heard of them. Having made loads of money from the sale of their chain of shops, the family then proceeded to piddle it all against the wall. There goes my inheritance!
// My grandfather was in the Second World War. He might just have met someone famous //
my father as a POW in germany met the surivors of the Warsaw uprising 1944 ( NOT the warsaw ghetto - there werent any survivors 1942) and said they were the bravest men he had ever met - incl. Michaelovsky-Bor who was famous to the poles but virtually no one else
The closest I can come is that one of my aunts on my father's side was a governess to Lord Brabazon's children, and traveled all over the world with him and them and made a pretty penny by doing so. Now I know that's not being related to someone famous...But it's closeies innit?
