Spent the entire afternoon clearing out.
Originally only intended to clear out a few bits and pieces from my draws and ended up going through my entire flat. Got on a roll I guess!
Just found half a dozen unwanted mobile phones and chargers in my draws alone that I had totally forgot about, not to mention various techno bits n pieces.
Ended up chucking half filled paint cans, clothes, various bottles of cleaning products, unwanted linen, out of date food, etc etc.
Some have gone into a charity bag, most has gone into my (communal) skip.

Ive always had a 'thing' about waste and recycle where I can, but sometimes, there really is no need to save everything 'just in case'! You just end up with a house full of cr ap!...and end up having a bloody good clearout.

Don't know what it is, but I feel so much lighter for getting rid of a LOAD of stuff....

Because things are hard come by, and things cost us money. But, in the end, if we can do without something being around , then it needs to go. Not that I follow that, I have stuff liked up too.
*piled*
I suppose my Mums old saying "is it either use or ornament?" needs to be considered. If its neither, get rid.
Sometimes were just too busy to tackle it.
I have enough stuff in my house to open my own shop. Cupboards full of ornaments my kids bought me. Stiletto heel shoes I couldn't even walk to the front door in. It just goes on and on. My kids don't want any of it, and when I pop off, I bet it will all do to charity shops
I never throw anything sentimental away, but things that can be replaced, just stuff, I'm easy to let go of, so I'll keep old airline tickets for example but donate quite new phones when I get a new one and not be bothered.
50 grands worth of plastic bags calico? What??? ;0)
Have been asking myself that for years ! And it feels quite sad that when I die all the stuff that I have collected and looked after and things that have meant so much to me will just be thrown away :(
I went through a phase of forgetting to take any with me and having to buy them and they just accumulated til they've formed a small militia under the sink Eleena lol.

Often when people do house clearances though Bodeker they donate little nick-knacks to charity shops and other collectors buy them so they might find nice homes that will cherish them x
They say that if you haven't used anything for a year or so, you will not need it. Well, that's not quite true for me, as I can almost guarantee that if I get rid of something, I will want it shortly afterwards.
That would be nice Calicogirl but my daughter says when I go she is just getting a skip and tossing everything lol
Oh that's wicked, lol, I'm sure she won't, things suddenly become precious when people pass x
Its a great feeling isnt it!!!!!

Hope things are going well!? X
I had 5 half full (or is that half empty) tins of paint in my shed. Put it on local Freegle and they were all snapped up within 24 hours. Loads of folk just need a small amount for a job.
I'm the same with plastic carrier bags. But if I save them...which I do...I take them to work as we always need them for clients. Charity shops will also use them.
I just did a huge kitchen clear out, and was ashamed of just how many out of date jars and tins I had. I buy things, and think I'll use them for a 'special' meal, or whatever. Of course, they just shift to the back of the cupboard...never to be seen again. I've invested in storage items so I can now more easily see what I've got. No more out of sight, out of mind.
Hate watching antique programs to see value of stuff Ive cleared out. Latest is my dter wanting a cuckoo clock that I chucked 10y ago when widowed (with 3 ormolu brass clocks) I couldnt stand tick tock
I will have been decluttering for 2 years in May....but I will have done the entire house, attic, garage and 2 sheds and in that time, I have dealt with two mains water leaks, a blocked sewer pipe, a fallen in kitchen ceiling, replacement shower (kitchen ceiling), removed bath and shower put in, collapsed garden shed with accompanying urgent shed empty and a garage door fell off its hinges with accompanying urgent garage empty. and yes, I feel much lighter
I have a commercial sized orange juice squeezer for literally no reason takes up a whole cupboard, is never used. You can get tiny plastic ones that can fit in a drawer lol
On my key ring I have the house key, the car key.... and about 7 other keys of which I have absolutely no idea what or where they are for! Guarantee though the moment I throw them out.........
