1. We've just been granted planning permission, despite an objection from our neighbours.

2. I found out late last week, purely by chance, that I've been underpaid for the last 2 years on all my overtime. I'm getting all that back pay on Thursday.

3. Really excited for BM regarding her forthcoming nuptials. She deserves a happy ever after.

4. So pleased for another AB lady who has recently sealed the deal with her Mr Darcy.

5. I have a gorgeous mini-me, some great holidays to look forward to and life is looking *** amazing.

I should rename this thread Reasons To Be Overjoyed. What are your RTBC / RTBO ??

Just 8 weeks ago I was playing on my computer when I suddenly felt "not well". At that moment my wife happened to call that she had made a drink, so I went downstairs. One mouthful and I felt very sick, rushed to the toilet where I collapsed. I was taken by ambulance on "Blues and twos" to the nearest trauma hospital where it was ascertained I'd had an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Apparently the survival rate for such events is about 15%; I think that's a reason to be cheerful.
Blimey, bhg, how are you feeling now?
Not bad, thanks ummmm. I still get short of breath sometimes, which I put down to being anaemic due to the amount of blood I lost (4 litres, they said and you only have 5 to start with). Other than that the odd medic I've seen has been amazed at my progress so I think I was a bit lucky.
Incidentally, I had no prior symptoms that anything was amiss but the NHS are rolling out an ultrasound scan programme for over 65s to try to detect the problem in good time. It's exactly the same as the pre-natal scan and you won't be surprised to hear that I'm recommending all my friends to have one.
Very lucky by the sounds of it. Scary stuff!!
Crikey BHG that's awful, so glad you're still with us and going on alright though x

Much love and good wishes to your uncle too Ummm x
bhg481, that happened to a friend of ours recently. He was very lucky to survive. I wish you well.

Good lord, Bhg, you were very lucky.

When you consider that blood flows through the Aorta at 3.6m per second, you were ruddy lucky.

When I started work at a previous hospital we had a 32-year-old lady present to Reception for an urgent scan (she'd been sent by her GP).

She popped a AAA whilst standing at Reception and she was dead before she hit the floor.

I'm so glad you're okay.
