Cats are especially curious creatures, always interested - when they're not sound asleep, that is! - in what is going on around them. The notion of the 'killed cat' probably implies that one got too close to something dangerous - a circular saw, perhaps? - and paid the ultimate price. The lesson for humanity is: Keep out of it!
