What's the best ground coffee that I can buy for a very discerning American visitor who I shall be entertaining for two weeks next month? I don't somehow think "co-op's own" is going to go down very well so I am looking for really good coffee that I can get and NOT the pod variety that possibly tastes a bit like "good old home" for her.

I am loving these replies and also some helpful ideas about brands of coffee. I am no expert on coffee - a bit of the Duowe Egberts - or something with chicory is about my limit. But for 6 years I have heard nothing else from my friend about that special first thing in the morning coffee(milk or cream being taboo) that I want to get it right.

It's been really nice to see American opinions here too.

Well I have ordered some Jamaica Blue Mountain (and it is seriously expensive s**t isn't it?) I'll get some tesco's Java and some lyons original, I have my own instant and I'll polish the perculator........I'm sorted!
