Im looking for some basic antiseptic liquid for skin - i have TCP but that has such a specific smell that lingers too much and even when i can't smell it anymore some other people do.

So im looking for one that has a less noticeable and antiseptic smell

i was thinking if the scent of dettol is not TOO strong and horrible that i maybe could disguise with perfume and it'll blend more. - (pine i've heard is a big part of it?)

so can you tell what it smells like to you? and the strength etc?

also anyone know of any other skin antiseptic liquids that have a more pleasing aroma?

i will be using a lot so need something like dettol that is not expensive and a firm favourite

thank you for any help :)

Surgical spirit?
can I ask, very generally, what you will be using it for? If you just want it for cleanliness then soap and water and rubbing is what is reccommended by the NHS...if its for a skin issue then it will depend on what the issue is.
I agree with woof's question....it depends on what you are using it for, and where. Just using an "antiseptic" everywhere for no specific reason isn't a good idea.
Dettol does have a smell as does tea tree oil. As mentioned previously why are you using it
Vodka.

i didnt know savlon and germoline had a liquid version

I wish to God you could buy Ozanol in the UK. The Canadians keep that miracle healing ointment to themselves. I am fortunate that my niece can send it to me as and when.
Dettol has a strong ,clean smell but reminds me of hospitals and clinics.
Hibiscrub is one of my favourite smells, it used to be quite drying though - not sure if they've changed the formula.

Not clear what it's for but would the liquid antiseptic such as you rub on your hands when visiting hospitals not do? You can buy that anywhere and has no smell at all. Personally Germolene ointment smells quite strong to me, agree Savlon not so much. I have some Savlon antiseptic dry powder spray in my first aid kit that has zero smell but is a bit yellow looking on the skin (unless mine's gone off, I've just tried it).
I would still ask the same question (what do you want to use it for)...and the soap and rubbing NHS advice isn't just about hands.
Try Wright's Coal Tar soap. Lovely stuff
i like the smell of hibscrub too - takes me right back when i sniff it. I also have the savlon dry spray but sadly i dont think you can buy it any more
Savlon antiseptic liquid was discontinued quite a few years ago by the manufacturer. Closer examination of the link provided will show that the product is no longer available and you'll not find it any shops in the UK. Nowadays, it's been replaced by products containing benzalkonium chloride and most of the marketed benzalkonium chloride containing antiseptics are either odourless or have a faint smell. That'll probably fit the bill. BC containing antiseptics are not quite as potent as the cetrimide/chlorhexidine combination that was in Savlon liquid but they do work reasonably well.
At uni, we make our own version of Savlon out of the raw ingredients but then again, I'm old enough to remember when we used to use Chloramine-T and Acriflavine in the labs as antiseptics. At one time, there was a first aid section at the back of a famous organic chemistry textbook that advised pouring Chloramine-T solution over every burn, abrasion and wound. Lovely stuff!
