What' the one everyday item have you found to have a massive price difference from one shop to the other. At one time people used to shop around to save pennies on certain items, but now it runs, anything from 50p into pounds on one item. For example, a large jar of Lor coffee (165grs) can be as much as £6.50, and I have seen it on sale as much as £7.50. B&M at the moment near me sell it at £4.79, Sainsburys had it on sale for 3 weeks at £4.00, then made a further reduction to £3.25. If and when Pounstretcher get hold of any from time to time, its £4.00. This is one of many items I've seen with big price difference. Is the profit margin so great now. What have you found?

Nescafe Cappuccino sachets (the preferred hot drink of my little Irish pal).

They are on offer (frequently) for £1.49. a box - but with a theoretical ‘normal’ price of £3.99 or more. All outlets have the offer from time to time - the trick is spotting it and “filling one’s boots” with whatever quantity the store will allow. It’s a cynical attempt to get you hooked on the stuff and then hoick the price - classic drug-dealer modus operandi.

On an international level - don’t wait until your need Ibuprofen in Ireland - they’ll rush you for up to €3.99 for a box of 16 - which costs 25p (or less) if you stock up in the UK.

PG tips tea sells for £6 in Tesco but is always on sale in Poundstretcher for £3.50. So i always stock up.

Same with sugar, 89p in Sainsburys but only 45p in Savers.

Free range large eggs - £1.75 in Iceland for a dozen. In Waitrose and MnS - over £2.50 for 6 - don't know exact price .

With four cats to feed, I tend to particularly notice the price of cat food.

My lot like the 'Go Cat Crunchy & Tender' range and, originally, most big supermarkets were selling it at £3.10 or £3.20 for an 800g bag. Morrison's reduced it to £2 per bag but then put it back up again to £3.20. Sainsbury's also reduced it £2 but then put it up to £2.50. Tesco kept selling it at £3 but offered it on a '2 for £4' basis for a while, before removing the offer and then, a few weeks further on, reinstating again. Asda dropped their price from £3.10 to £2 and, thankfully, it seems to be staying there. While all of that was going on though, B&M have held their price at just £1.99.

I tend to buy 4 bags of cat food at a time, so (just based upon that one item alone), shopping in Morrison's would cost me nearly a fiver more than going to Asda or B&M.

Not massively different but, for what they are, packs of chewing gum fall into this category. I buy Wrigleys spearmint and at some shops they sell for 70p, others 65p and my corner shop sells them at 60p. I can get 3 packs for £1 in some places, including Farmfoods and even The Range, and 5 packs for £1.75 at Tesco.

It's a good job Gness and I don't shop at the same stores - I too chase the lowest priced Nescafé Cappuccino sachets around.

Its a coffee and a petrol thing; nothing else seems to vary in price quite as much as these two.

I chase deals on Carte Noir coffee and stock up when its half price in Sainsburys.

Petrol seems to vary from day to day. I stick with the supermarket brand and is fill up on my way home from work on a mid week evening rather than mornings or weekends when a few pence seems to be added on.
